When someone on your verified SSO domain signs in but hasn’t been invited, Proprietas doesn’t let them straight in — they land on a request-access screen and an admin approves them. It’s the same pattern as Notion or Slack: your domain proves who they are, you decide whether they get a seat.

What the Requester Sees

After signing in via SSO with no membership, they see “Proprietas already has a workspace for your-domain.com — you haven’t been invited yet” and a Request Access button. Once they request, the screen shows a pending state. They can’t see any of your data until you approve.
People you’ve already invited skip this entirely — an invite is pre-approval, so they join straight away.

Approving or Denying

Admins handle requests in Settings → Members → Pending Requests:
  • A badge appears on the Settings sidebar entry and the Members tab when requests are waiting.
  • You also get a notification (and, if enabled, an email) — toggle these under Settings → Notifications → Member requests.
  • Approve with a role (defaults to Editor) — the person becomes a member and gets a “you’re in” email.
  • Deny to decline silently.

Auto-Join (Optional)

By default every verified domain is request-to-join. A domain can be switched to auto-join if you’d rather everyone on it become a member automatically — ask support to enable it for a domain.
