# Desktop App

> Run Proprietas in a fast, native window on macOS and Windows.

Proprietas runs in your browser, but there's also a **native desktop app** for macOS and Windows — the same platform in a dedicated, distraction-free window that lives in your dock or taskbar. Everything is identical to the web app; the desktop build just adds a few native touches.

  The desktop app is the same product as the web app, signed in to the same workspace. There's nothing extra to set up and no separate data — close your laptop, open the web app on another machine, and you're exactly where you left off.

## Download

Get it from [proprietas.app/desktop](https://proprietas.app/desktop). The page detects your operating system and offers the right build:

* **macOS** — Universal, Apple Silicon, or Intel
* **Windows** — x64 or ARM64

It's **free with every plan** — no separate licence.

## Automatic Updates

On **macOS**, the app keeps itself current. It checks for a new version on launch and every few hours after that, downloads it quietly in the background, and shows an **Update Available** then **Relaunch to Update** banner at the bottom of the sidebar. Click it and the app relaunches straight into the new version. No installer, no interruption mid-task.

  The auto-updater ships in version **1.1.0**. If you're on an older build, download the latest DMG from [proprietas.app/desktop](https://proprietas.app/desktop) once; every update after that is automatic. On **Windows**, updating is still a manual download for now.

## What's different from the browser

## Mobile

Native iOS and Android apps are on the way. In the meantime the web app works on any phone — which is how contractors and tenants already use the [contractor portal](/facilities/contractor-portal) and report issues on site.
